By default, the sorting feature is enable on the DataTables which allows users to click on table header to sort table by that column. In this example, we would like to show how to preset the order of table on page load. Specifically, the above table is sorted by the firstName column which is at second position:

DataTables::create(array(
    ...
    "options"=>array(
        "orders"=>array(
            array(1,"desc")
        )
    )
));
<?php
require_once "MyReport.php";

$report = new MyReport;
$report->run()->render();
<?php
//Step 1: Load KoolReport
require_once "../../../load.koolreport.php";

//Step 2: Creating Report class
class MyReport extends \koolreport\KoolReport
{
    function settings()
    {
        return array(
            "dataSources"=>array(
                "sakila_rental"=>array(
                    "connectionString"=>"mysql:host=localhost;dbname=automaker",
                    "username"=>"root",
                    "password"=>"",
                    "charset"=>"utf8"
                ),
            )
        );
    }

    protected function setup()
    {
        $this->src('automaker')
        ->query("SELECT employeeNumber, firstName,lastName,jobTitle, extension from employees")
        ->pipe($this->dataStore("employees"));
    }

}
